SOUTHEAST ENGINE
was spawned in the Appalachian town of
Athens, Ohio during the winter days of 2000 A.D. The
original incarnation of the band occurred via frequent
musical rendezvous between front man Adam Remnant and
drummer Leo DeLuca, both hailing from the rock haven that is
Dayton, Ohio.
Being young, impressionable, and in the company of Guided By
Voices, Swearing at Motorists, and Brainiac was sufficient
in establishing inspiration for a blossoming Southeast
Engine. After making a move to Athens, Ohio the band
started to take shape. It was here that they began to write
and perform music that is carved out of the great tradition
of American music with artists such as Bob Dylan, The Band
(from Canada), The Velvet Underground and Big Star helping
to light the way.
Riding beneath a beautiful surface of idiosyncratic
arrangements and contemplative lyrics, their sound tends to
lie within the realms of the indie, folk, and alt-country
genres. Having gained a strong following in Midwestern
America, the band aims to further that following as they
spread their sound across the country and beyond. The boys
have shared the stage with such acts as Magnolia Electric
Co. (Songs: Ohia), The Wrens, Head of Femur, Patrick Ewing,
Oksana Baiul,
The Court and Spark, Tim Easton, and more... |
