Primary Purpose:
This is a full time position. This position reports directly to the
Sales Manager. This position oversees the revenue programs for
sponsorship, booths, trade show ticket sales/operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: This position works with the
support of the entire staff, board of directors and volunteers for the
primary purpose of producing revenue for Undercurents. Secondarily, it
is responsible for the brand awareness of Undercurrents and all of its
trade show events. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Develop, maintain and oversee the corporate trade show sales and sponsorship
programs for all trade show related events and programs.
• Identify new revenue generating opportunities and enhance/expand
existing revenue sources.
• Serve as direct account liaison for some of our key sponsors.
• Lead sales efforts by personally initiating contact with
business prospects, negotiating contracts and fulfilling contracts.
• Coordinate the sales efforts between the sales & marketing department
and other staff members, and volunteers.
• Develop short-term and long-term sales & marketing plans.
• Oversee development of sales and marketing policies designed to serve
the best interests of Undercurrents.
• Oversee recruitment and hiring of seasonal marketing staff and
interns.
• Manage marketing department budget in accordance with
Undercurrents overall budget goals and demonstrate fiscal responsibly throughout the
entire fiscal year.
• Serve as liaison with
Undercurrents Directors and event managers for all trade show related sponsorship, ticketing and
marketing matters.
• Report trade show revenue status to the Management team and the Board
as deemed appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager
Skills Required: Must have outstanding communication skills, both
written and verbal. Must have good knowledge of marketing principles,
promotional strategies and account management skills. Must have
successful sponsorship sales skills with a proven track record of
producing incremental revenue. Must have strong sales management skills
to effectively manage a sales team. Strong attention to detail, accuracy
& consistency; proven self-starter. Must have strong financial knowledge
and fiscal discipline to manage a revenue-generating department for a
non-profit with limited financial resources; strong background in office
procedures and operation of office equipment, including computers
(Windows Software). Must have a strong proficiency with word processing,
(Microsoft Word), e-mail (Microsoft Outlook) spreadsheets, (Microsoft
Excel), database management (Microsoft Access) etc. Must have excellent
typing and telephone skills.
Abilities Required: Ability to maintain effective working relationships
with staff, directors and volunteers; present a pleasing and helpful
attitude to the public at all times; communicate effectively through
oral and written means. Ability to develop common goals with staff,
motivate them by discerning the best management tactics for each
individual and the group as a whole; strong ability to coach individual
staff members, willingness to discipline individuals fairly and timely,
and share insight to hire and manage talented staff based on budget
needs. Respond quickly to changing environments and needs; effectively
coordinate Undercurrents assigned tasks; work on a variety of projects
at the same time with the flexibility to change tasks as priorities
require; ability to work under stressful situations; produce quality
work under minimal supervision; understand the staff support role and opportunities for
initiating program improvements.
Essential Functions: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time,
sit for extended periods of time; lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk long distances and be on your
feet for extended periods of time during Undercurrents produced events.
Minimum Qualifications: Must have 4-year college degree and a minimum of
5 years sales and marketing work experience, including at least 2 years
at a management level. Requires prior sponsorship sales experience.
Special event experience is preferred.
